Callie and Jacob at La Villa
Last April, Callie and Jacob had the coolest wedding in town at La Villa in Midtown Kansas City. The whole day was so beautiful, intentional and full of love for the happy couple.
Callie’s bouquet was minimal and petite yet impactful through shape and color. It only used three types of flowers which were highlighted throughout the wedding, calla lilies, anthurium and hanging amaranth. The ladies held a few stems of calla lilies tied with a white ribbon, a simple and beautiful moment.
The ceremony was set against a white draped fabric so we created a pedestal installation as the backdrop with modern, sculptural spring flower arrangements, two elevated and one on the ground. These were later reused as focal point pieces in the windows.
On the other side of the space, the archway held another installation for Callie and the wedding party to walk under on their way to the altar. We kept the types of flowers few, but used the same blooms from Callie’s bouquet in addition to hydrangea, belles of Ireland and butterfly ranunculus. It then doubled as a backdrop for the sweetheart table during the reception.
We focused on minimal, but impactful florals for the tables since they are not very wide and full from the table settings. One type used bud vases and the second type featured petite ikebana arrangements styled with fruit. Both types used tapers and votives to finish the look.
A fave moment from the whole set up was the dessert table. We repurposed flowers from the rehearsal dinner and added in fruit with antique silver platters. It was a nod to a renaissance still life and I loved every detail.
